Recently a bunch of my friends have purchased Wiis and have been requesting me to “hack” them. I was doing this manually using TBR , NUS, and a few other tools. This method was annoying as if something was done out of order the process generally needed to be restarted from the beginning. Xzxero and others on GBATemp have come up with a more straight forward way of hacking the 4.2 system, by using a modified version of Dop-IOS, GP DOP-IOS MOD. The GP version is just as straight forward as you can get, as in now you just have to click A 10 or so times to restore back the trucha bug to an IOS.

Betwiin will allow a user to take a NAND backup from one Wii and re-encrypt it so it can be used on another. What this means to us is we can take a fully hacked NAND thats been re-encrypted with this tool and after loading just BootMii on a Wii restore said NAND and TA-DA fully hacked Wii. Only caveats to this is the two Wii you are transferring to has to have the same Boot1 and the Boot2 has to be equal or higher, also everything working 100% is not guaranteed, read below.

Team Twiizer has finally released Bootmii. Right now it’s still in beta, but it’s seems to function pretty well. It has a built in boot2 checker, so you’ll know instantly if you have to load it as an IOS or if you can use the boot2 feature. Besides loading BootMii it can also backup/restore your NAND and install HBC 1.0.2.

How to Sync an Un-syncable Wii
Do to Crediar April’s fools joke and the way the Wii keeps time, I faced the issue of a Wii that wouldn’t Sync. I’ll outline below how I got around the “issue” in Preloader that doesn’t allow for Wiimote syncing and got around the April fools joke that only allowed the Wiimote to disable the “Now Repairing” screen, normally you can use a GameCube controller to navigate the Preloader screen, using the Wii’s detachable Bluetooth module.

In a recent eBay auction I purchased a Wii that was working but taken apart (I wanted an older Wii motherboard that was compatible with BootMii) and a D2B that wouldn’t read DVDs and would spit the back out after trying to load them into the drive twice. You could tell it was a gear issue as the disk was never fully put in place. The below are the steps I used to repair the D2B, surprisingly it was pretty easy to do.
